Triples Championship - 7/4/23
Once again, a really enjoyable competition played in a very friendly, competitive spirit. After 4 rounds Kemsley 4, Leysdown 1, Kemsley 2 plus 1, and Teynham were through to the semi-finals.
Kemsley 4 (Barry, Ann and Bill,) narrowly beat the Leysdown team of (Julie, Pat and Dave). In the other semi-final Teynham ( Pete, Gill and Chris) won against Kemsley 2 plus 1 (Rita, Ray and Joy).
So it was a Teynham (Pete, Gill and Chris) versus Kemsley 4 (Barry, Ann and Bill) Final.
Kemsley stormed away to build up an early lead, but one shot at a time Teynham cut the lead back to win 12 shots to 7. This was the first time Gill and Pete have won the trophy.
Many thanks to everyone who took part for making these competitions so enjoyable to organise and watch.
Swale Pairs Championship 17/2/2023
Again, it was a bright spring day and Pairs entries were up on the previous
years with 18 teams taking part. Each team played three matches of seven ends and quarter finals were played. The semi finals were Sandra and Bill Tillman of Tunstall against Julie Milham and Roger Woods of Leysdown resulting in a win for the Leysdown team reaching the final.
The second semi final was the Sheppey team of Steve Seager and Brian Jarvis against last year's runners up of Trevor Jorden and Gary Blint of Tunstall. This year it was the Sheppey team's turn to win.
So it was a Sheppey versus Leysdown final and what an exciting final it was. The opening ends were very close but then Julie and Roger took a strong lead. The Sheppey team had a lot to do. On the last ninth end Leysdown were leading 10-9. Strong nerves were needed.
Brian draw in to score the the shot and YES an extra end was needed to separate the two teams.
Sheppey drew to the jack and the trophy was theirs, winning the trophy for the first time. Well done Steve, Brian , Julie and Roger for a cracking final.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in a very enjoyable day. Also all those that stayed to watch.
Next competition is the triples on th 7/4 so get your entry in now to be sure of a place.
